Crossplay has not been announced for Dumpster Gang. Curve Games has not stated that PC players can join PlayStation, Xbox or Switch 2 lobbies, and has not ruled it out either. The subject has simply not come up in any of the announcements so far.

That is the whole of the confirmed position, and it is more useful than it sounds, because the release structure tells you when an answer could arrive.

The timing makes this a March question

Dumpster Gang launches on PC on December 3, 2026. The three console versions arrive in March 2027. For three months there is nothing to cross play with: PC is the only platform with a live build.

That has two consequences:

  1. A crossplay announcement in December would be premature. There would be no console build to connect to. The natural moment to say anything is closer to the console launch.
  2. The PC pool forms first. Whatever community exists in December is a PC community, and console players arriving in March join a game that already has three months of players, patches and discovered tricks.

What crossplay would require here

Dumpster Gang is a four-player online co-op game, not a competitive shooter, so the technical bar is lower than it is for a game with matchmaking and ranked play. A shared lobby needs three things: a common account layer, a common session service and agreement between platform holders.

The part that usually takes time is not the network code. It is the platform policy work, which is why small studios often ship console versions with crossplay between consoles of the same family first and add the rest later.

The neighbouring questions nobody has answered either

Crossplay is one of four related questions, and the other three matter just as much for a group:

QuestionState
Crossplay between PC and consoleNot announced
Crossplay between PS5, Xbox and Switch 2Not announced
Cross-save between platformsNot announced
Cross-buy between platformsNot announced
Cross-progression with the demoNot announced

Cross-save matters if someone plays on PC in December and buys a console copy in March. Without it, three months of hat unlocks stay on the PC account.

What a shared pool would change

Crossplay is not a feature checkbox in a game like this. It decides who can play with whom, and for Dumpster Gang that decision has a visible shape.

With crossplay: a group of four can mix a PS5, an Xbox, a Switch 2 and a PC, and the natural upgrade path is "whoever has the best machine hosts". Friends who move from PC to console in March keep playing with the same people.

Without crossplay: each platform is a walled garden, and a four-player group has to agree on one family before buying. The PC release being three months earlier then splits the group in two for a whole quarter.

There is a middle outcome that is common in practice: crossplay within one console family, or between the two Microsoft platforms, but not across all four. That would let an Xbox console player join a PC lobby while leaving PlayStation and Nintendo out.

What the platform holders require

Crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox requires both platforms to allow it and the studio to run a shared session service. Nintendo's participation has historically been decided title by title. None of that is technically difficult for a four-player co-op game; it is contract and certification work, which is why small studios often ship without it and add it later.

That is the realistic path here: launch PC-only in December, launch consoles in March, and treat crossplay as a post-launch addition if the publisher decides it is worth the paperwork.

How to plan a group around it

If everyone is on PC: crossplay does not matter. Play in December.

If the group is mixed: plan for two separate groups until an announcement. The PC half can play from December 3; the console half waits until March, and whether they can then join the PC half depends on a statement that does not exist yet.

If you are buying a console specifically to play with PC friends: wait for the announcement before spending money. A console purchase made on the assumption of crossplay is the one decision here that could go badly wrong.

What to watch, and when

The realistic windows for news are the console launch month and any platform showcase between now and then. Crossplay is usually confirmed in one of two ways: a line in a store listing's feature list, or a direct statement in a console launch announcement.

Until one of those happens, any page stating that Dumpster Gang supports or does not support crossplay is stating something the publisher has not said.

The safe assumption

Plan as if PC and console pools are separate. If crossplay is announced before March, the plan gets better. If it is not, the plan still works.

The short answer

No crossplay announcement exists. PC launches three months before any console, so the question cannot be answered by the game itself until March 2027. Groups split across platforms should assume separate pools and treat any announcement as a bonus.
