Dumpster Gang arrives on PlayStation 5 in March 2027. The console version was announced on October 28, 2026, alongside the Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 builds, with a month-long window rather than a specific day.

There is no PS4 version. Sony's last-generation console is not on the platform list, and no PlayStation 4 build has been announced at any point.

What a PS5 owner can do today

Very little is available before March:

  • No PlayStation demo. The free demo is on Steam and through Xbox on PC. Nothing suggests a console demo is coming, and the console announcement did not include one.
  • No price. No PlayStation Store listing has shown a price, and no pre-order window has opened.
  • No date inside March. The window is a month, not a day.

What a PS5 owner can do is watch the store page for the game to appear with a price, and read up on the loop in the meantime. The demo material on this site describes the same movement and noise systems the console build will use.

Why PS4 is not included

The game is a four-player physics sandbox. Almost every prop in a level can be picked up, thrown or smashed, and four raccoons can be dragging oversized loot through the same room at once. That is a CPU and memory problem before it is a graphics problem.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both use Jaguar-based processors from 2013. Games with heavy simultaneous physics and four-player networking routinely skip that generation, and Dumpster Gang's platform list follows the same pattern. Nothing about the announcement suggests a later PS4 port.

What the PS5 version still has to answer

The crossplay line is the one that matters most for a co-op purchase. Dumpster Gang is a game people buy to play with friends, and if the PlayStation pool cannot reach the PC pool, a PS5 player needs three friends who also own a PS5.

What the March window means for a group

If your group is split between PC and PlayStation, the practical split runs from December 2026 to March 2027. During that time the PC players can already be playing, learning the maps and unlocking hats, while the PlayStation players wait.

Two things follow. First, the PC group should not plan a full four-player run in December if two of the four are on console. Second, by the time the PS5 version lands, the PC players will be three months ahead in unlocks, which matters less than it sounds: the hats that carry abilities unlock through play, not through a battle pass.

What a PS5 player should compare before March

The comparison that matters is not PS5 against PC on paper. It is which version your friends will be on when the console version arrives.

Three checks are worth doing in February, when the console listing should be live:

  1. Does the PlayStation Store page list crossplay? Store feature lists are usually the first place a crossplay confirmation appears.
  2. Is there a PS5 demo? A console demo before launch would be the first hands-on PlayStation build, and its existence would say something about how finished the port is.
  3. Is the price the same as PC? Console prices can differ, and a gap changes which version a mixed group should buy.

Nothing about the PS5 version has been shown running. The announcement named the platform and the window; it did not include footage from the console build, and no hands-on impressions exist.

Is it worth waiting for the PS5 version

For someone with both a gaming PC and a PS5, the PC version is available three months earlier, is the build the demo runs on, and is the version Game Pass covers. The PS5 version makes sense if the group is on PlayStation, if the living room is where you play, or if the PC you own is below the minimum specification.

For someone with only a PS5, the answer is simply March 2027, and the demo cannot be played at all until then. Reading the demo material is the closest substitute, and the first hour is the part that decides whether the loop holds up.

No PS4, no exceptions

PlayStation 4 is not on the platform list and has not been mentioned in any announcement. A PS4 copy of Dumpster Gang does not exist and is not planned as far as anything public says.

One more consideration for a mixed group: if the PC half buys in December and the PlayStation half waits, the two halves will be at different points in the progression by March. Hats and hideout upgrades are earned, not granted, so a late arrival starts from the beginning whatever the others have unlocked.

The short version

PS5 gets Dumpster Gang in March 2027. No PS4 version, no PlayStation demo, no price, no pre-order, and no answer yet on crossplay. The game itself is the same one the PC demo shows: climb, steal, drag loot home, rescue the friend in the cage.
