Dumpster Gang launches on December 3, 2026 for PC, through Steam, the Xbox app on Windows and PC Game Pass. The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions arrive in March 2027. Both dates come from Curve Games, the publisher, in its October 2026 announcements.

If you only remember one thing: December 3 is a PC date. There is no PlayStation or Nintendo build of the game on that day, and no store page on those platforms to buy it from.

What happens on December 3

  • Steam sells the Windows version. The store page has been live since before the demo, with a wishlist button instead of a price.
  • Xbox on PC sells the same Windows build through the Microsoft Store, and the demo is listed there as well.
  • PC Game Pass includes the full game on day one, so subscribers download it from the Xbox app rather than buying it.

Japan gets the game on December 4 by local calendar. That is not a second release: the store flips at the same moment worldwide, and December 3 in the Americas and Europe lands after midnight in Japan. Every other region can use its own local date without adjusting anything.

What is not known about the day itself

The unlock hour has not been published. Steam's own countdown becomes the reliable source in the final days, because it reads the same store database that controls the button. Any site quoting a specific unlock time today is extrapolating from another game's schedule.

The price is also missing. A Steam page with a wishlist button and no purchase button means the price is not set in that store yet. When it appears, it appears there first, and game pages that already quote a number are guessing.

Why consoles wait until March 2027

Dumpster Gang is made by Coyote House Games, a studio founded by two college friends, and published by Curve Games. One of the founders previously shipped Midnight Ghost Hunt as game director, which is where the asymmetric hide-and-seek instinct in Dumpster Gang comes from.

The PC build is the one that has been public since the demo opened on October 19, 2026. The console versions were announced later, at Nintendo's October 2026 Indie World showcase, with a month rather than a day attached.

That gap has four practical consequences:

  1. The online pool starts on PC. For three months, everyone playing co-op is on a PC build. If your friends are split across platforms, the PC group can play together first.
  2. Console stores have not opened. No pre-order, no wishlist discount, no price to compare. Anything advertised as a console pre-order right now is not this game.
  3. The demo is PC only. It is available through Steam and Xbox on PC. There is no console demo, and the console announcement did not promise one.
  4. Balance changes arrive before consoles do. Three months of patches will have landed on PC by the time a PlayStation player starts, so the version they get is not the version that reviews in December.

What the demo cannot tell you

The demo is the tutorial plus two jobs, and it deliberately locks the shop and most rewards. So it shows the movement, the noise system and the cage rescue, but not the progression: how fast hats unlock, how much a hideout upgrade costs, or whether later neighbourhoods add new mechanics or only new layouts. Everything after the farm is unplayed by anyone outside the studio.

That matters for a December purchase decision. If the three demo areas feel like a complete vertical slice, the full game is more of the same with a longer progression tail. If they feel thin, the unanswered question is whether the full release adds enough variety to carry four players past the first weekend.

How to be ready on the day

Three things are worth doing before December 3, and none of them cost anything.

Play the demo. The forest training ground teaches the movement, the suburban house teaches the loot loop, and the farm is where most teams first get somebody caged. That is enough to know whether the physics and the four-player chaos suit you.

Wishlist on Steam. A wishlist entry is what produces the release notification and, in most storefront events, the launch discount email. Since no price exists yet, the wishlist is the only way to be told when one does.

Decide who you are playing with. Four players is the ceiling, and the game is online only. Agreeing on a night before launch is easier than herding three raccoons afterwards.

If you are deciding whether to wait

The demo answers most of it for free. Three areas cover the movement, the loot loop and the Exterminator's pursuit. If the demo clicks, December 3 is the earliest you can play the full version. If you are waiting for a console, the demo is still the only way to judge the loop before March, and it runs on a fairly modest PC.

Careful with dated guides

Several fan pages still state that Dumpster Gang has no exact release day and that consoles are unannounced. Both were true before October 2026 and are wrong now.
